The Other Honey.

Well as promised here is the other Honey (a digi by Krista from Saturated Canary) I have coloured her with YGs.  I attempted the dotting technique but as you can clearly see it wasn't overly successful.  Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Honey was coloured with these copics (available over at the Mad for Markers store - Sammi also stocks some of Krista's rubber stamps) I have no idea why but I didn't record what colours I used so from memory:
Hair, YR21, YR20, YR00
Skin E50, E51, E53, E93.
Clothes and Shoes C5, C7, C9, YG00, YG03, YG06
Rabbit C1, C2, C3, C5, R20
Here's a comparison photo.  I think I like the Honey coloured with G's best but the pleats using YG look better.  I still need lots of practice when it comes to pleats and folds but they are improving.

Don't forget you still have a little time to enter in the Mad for Markers September Challenge using your G or YG coloured copics.
Thanks
Gretchen

A+ Teacher

I won this Simply Anya rubber stamp in a Mad for Markers blog hop (before I was a DT member) and thought I'd have a play around with it.  I am not really happy with this card.  I think more than anything it is the colour combination I don't like.  Green is my least favourite colour. I do like the papers from Kaisercraft's Class of '87 Collection but I just struggle with the green.

I used The Greeting Farm Simply Anya rubber stamp coloured with the following copics (all from Mad for Markers)
Skin E50, E51, E53, E93
Hair E31, E33, E35, E37
Clothes and Shoes YG00, YG03, YG06. G20, G24, G28.
Shadows BV0000 and BV00

Carrot Cupcakes

I am a little addicted to...Cupcake Wars.  I love cupcakes...and the show amazes me with their flavours and their decorations.  I found Arleen from Sweet Arleen's carrot cupcake recipe.  For those who aren't a fan of Cupcake Wars Arleen has won Cupcake Wars and also won the super challenge against other Cupcake Wars winners.  I modified her recipe for both the cupcakes and her frosting to suit my taste and thought I'd share it with you.  I will share the recipe for the Brownies in another post.

Carrot Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Icing
(a modification of a Sweet Arleen Recipe)

Carrot Cupcakes
1c plain flour
1/2tsp baking soda
1/2tsp salt (just under)
1tsp cinnamon
1tsp nutmeg
1/2c sugar
1/2c lightly packed brown sugar
2 free range eggs
3/4c vegetable oil
1 1/4c grated carrot
1/4c roughly chopped walnuts.

Preheat oven to 175 degrees celsius.  Line a 12 cupcake tin with paper liners.
In a bowl place the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg use a whisk to mix together.
In a larger bowl whisk together sugar, brown sugar, eggs and oil.
Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and whisk until just mixed.
Gently fold in grated carrot and chopped walnuts
Divide mixture equally between the 12 cupcake liners.
Bake for 20 -25 minutes.
When cool top with cream cheese icing (you can double the recipe if you like lots of icing).

Cream Cheese Icing
125g Cream Cheese
1/3c icing sugar
1tbsp Vanilla extract
1 tbsp milk

Place all ingredients in the bowl of an electric mixer and cream until creamy.  Spread or pipe over cupcakes.

I hope you enjoy!

Spring has sprung.

Just in case you don't know I really like spring for many reasons...the spring carnival (including the Melbourne Cup) - I like the carnival for the horses, flowers start to bloom, our fruit trees start to blossom, birds are in abundance and it means we are heading into Summer which means the cold temperatures of winter should start to fade away and I won't have to wear layers and layers of clothing to stay warm.  And it's much nicer to be outside when it's a little warmer.

Here's a little card I made that fits in with Mad for Markers  September Challenge Spring Growth - using your G or YG copic markers.  I don't normally use Greens, but I used all the greens I own in this card.

I used the Saturated Canary digi Ava (Krista is just so talented) I coloured her with these copics.
Skin E50, E51, E53, E93.
Hair C1, C5, C7, C9
Clothes YG00, YG03, YG06, G21, G24, G28, C1
Balloon RV00, RV02, 0
Shadows BV0000, BV00

News is that Sammi at Mad for Markers will be stocking Saturated Canary rubber stamps by Krista Smith soon.  She also has some new digi stamps As The Crow Flies by Ardith Trumpy.

Also for those of you who don't know copic markers are on sale over at Mad for Markers you can get sketch markers for $6.80 and ciaos for $4.60 during the month of September.  That is amazing!!

Thanks for stopping by.
